Happy Birthday Honey!

January 18, 2009

I had all these old/embarrassing pictures of my very adorable husband...but can't quite upload them correctly after spending too many hours trying to scan and edit them...oh well...he loves me in spite of my many faults...

The man that fathered my child(ren) and loves to embarrass me terribly while roaming the aisles of Walmart...turns 32 today!

He has loved me for nearly a decade...even when I can be quite unlovable!
He ate Ranch Chicken our whole first year of marriage, when it was the only thing I knew how to cook...and didn't complain.

He records sappy country songs just for me.
He works 6-7 days a week...so I can have to privilege of being a wife and mother!!!
He will pull over on the side of the road at the sight of any lost dog and search out it's owner.

He plays endless games of Candyland with our three year old and takes him on McDonald's dates!
He puts up with my hair-brained ideas...and pretends to enjoy them!
He can tickle Tommy and make him belly laugh like no one else.
He shows me daily that loving unselfishly is God's best.

He makes the best airplanes for Tommy, throwing him up high in the air, and laughs at me cringing in the background.
He hasn't divorced me in spite of my many While You Were Out Episodes on our house.

He is faithful to his friends and family and puts their needs before his own.

He loves me for who I am...even when that is pretty terrible.

He pushes Tommy farther than I would and has made Tommy a better individual because of it.

Dogs just love him like crazy!
And he puts up with the giant orangutan (me) that sleeps in his bed every night!
I love you honey....Happy Birthday!!

2008 Year in Review

2008 was the year we splurged and bought a pool!
Hey...it's the perfect size for now...until Mama learns to swim better!

Yes, the pictures are backwards and somewhat out of order.
I am just not that swift or that patient to correct it!

My baby turns THREE! No, I am not ok with that! A big boy bike and a Curious George party! Yes, we did eventually get Evil Knevil a helmet!

Tommy on the Polar Express. Santa and Trains...what three year old could ask for more?

The Turkey Trotters found out that Mama has a turkey in the oven after their run!
Four years ago on Thanksgiving morning we also found out that we were expecting!!
A new addition coming August 2009!

Cancer SUCKS! We love you Papa!

I started running in February and finished my first half marathon November 1st with my oldest friend and maid of honor at my wedding. Two weeks later we found out that we were pregnant!

The Mr. and Mrs! Ahhh...young love!

Sir Topham Hatt at Halloween.

Fun in the sun with cousins at the beach house!

First day of PRESCHOOL! Yes, Tommy started preschool this September. I didn't even hyperventilate...I just kept breathing really, really fast! You would be amazed at how much growth has taken place....with me, I mean....not just the sweet little boy in the picture!

Have you ever had your life flash before your eyes?
Umm, yeah!
And I wasn't even the one in the car.
My darling husband didn't even seem all that fazed from running into a wall at 100 plus miles per hour.

Two cousins....two pairs of feet-y jammies...lots of tile floor...equals pure happiness!

The bride and groom! We love you Mike and Danielle!

Remember Mikey...Happy wife makes for a happy life!

Ahhh! Lax'in at the beach! Here is to 2009 and many more blurry pictures to follow!

No Longer Living in 28 Day Cycles

"When you have come to the edge of all the light you know and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen: there will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught how to fly." Patrick Overter

After three failed infertility treatments I am no longer living my life in 28 day cycles. But instead living in a time of preparing, praying and purposeful surrender.

Our Journey to Homebirth

Educating myself with this...

http://www.ican-online.org/

The truth is a woman can be absolutely grateful and full of passionate mother love for her child and be enraged by how that child came into the world. Hating the birth, hating what happened in that cold impersonal operating room or delivery room has nothing to do with the child. It is possible to be both full of rage and full of love. When that rage is turned inward, a woman is depressed, and likely to believe you when she hears you tell her she's ungrateful and unloving toward her child. And if that rage turns back outward, it will spill over to you, because you told her a lie and she believed it because she trusted you. If that rage stays hidden, it will fester, and eventually there will be a place in that woman's heart where she no longer goes, because it just hurts too much and makes no sense. Good mothers just don't have those feelings, and she's already afraid she isn't a good enough mother. And so she loses something precious, and so do we all. -Gretchen Humphries at Birth Matters

Evenings

"The ordinary arts we practice everyday at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest." Thomas Moore

13. "Daddy's HOME!!!"

14. Garlic, onions and olive oil sauteing in a pan.

15. A toddler happily eating his 'sgetti.

16. A husband who graciously takes over toddler taming when he is a not-so happy eater.

17. Grandma's tangy oil and vinegar recipe on crisp spinach salads.

18. Red wine served in wedding goblets.

19. Johnson and Johnson scented bubble baths and terry Thomas towels.

20. Joy! Naked joy of a two year old!

21. Stories...this week's favorite...Trashy Town.

22. "Daddy pick-a-up"....good night kisses in a blue race car bed.

23. A dog that promptly excuses herself at 8:30 pm and retires to her king-size bed.

24. Chamomile tea enjoyed in a butter yellow mug.

25. Crawling into lavender scented sheets next to the man I love.

26. Realizing that all I ever wanted in life is right here.

27. "MAMA!"....comforting terrified shouts in the middle of the night.

28. The warm breath and clinging embrace of my no-longer baby as I tuck myself in beside him.

29. Returning to a snoring dog who has selfishly stolen my spot.

30. Finally reclaiming my sleep for the night...maybe ...

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night.
Sailed off in a wooden shoe---
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish.
That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
Said Wynken, Blynken, And Nod.

Home Life

What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow.
—Martin Luther
